We are Dawn and Becky and we live in Sacramento, CA. The two of us are honored that you would consider us as adoptive parents. We can imagine this is a very difficult decision for you to make and we cannot tell you how much we respect your courage in trying to make the best choice for your child. Our biggest hope in adopting is to repay your generosity by making all your dreams for your child come true. We look forward to the opportunity.
Embarking on an open adoption is exciting to us, because we think it is in the best interest of all involved, but mostly the child. It is our belief that it’s important for your child to know where he or she comes from, and we will also respect your wishes regarding how much openness you prefer.
As a happy and successful couple we can’t wait to add “parents” to our title. The two of us are at a point in our lives where we know we can provide a good, loving, stable home for a child, so we have begun the adoption process in order to build our family. Adoption has always been our first choice for bringing a child into our life. Becky has many adopted family members, including her older brother and four cousins, so adoption is a natural choice for the family we are creating together. About Becky, by Dawn
I met Becky when a mutual friend introduced us thinking that we might be a good match. That friend was spot on and Becky and I have been together ever since. I was, and still am, attracted to her fun and positive personality – one that sees the best in everything and everyone. She constantly makes me smile with her sense of humor and energy. Already a wonderful aunt to many nieces and nephews I know she is going to make an amazing mother.
Especially close to her brother, Wes, he and Becky spend a lot of time together working on the yard, coming up with fun projects and sampling local cuisine. One morning I woke up to find they had dug up half the flower beds in the backyard on a whim. After three weeks of working and digging and planting and planning the backyard was full of beautiful new flowers and plants. And the driveway was full of the leftover dirt. Like all their projects, it was a messy one that turned out great. Wes will make the best uncle and looks forward to having a helper for all the crazy yard projects he and Becky come up with.
Becky likes to spend her time gardening, snow skiing and playing her guitar. She’s been practicing a few lullabies on her guitar and I can’t wait for her to have the chance to sing them to our new baby.
About Dawn, by Becky
Dawn is a kind, funny woman who never fails to crack me up. We always have fun together and our lives are full of a lot of laughter. I know without a doubt that Dawn will be a great mother because I’ve seen how devoted she is to her young cousin, Katy, who is 14 years old now. Having played a role in her life since she was a baby it’s very obvious the positive influence Dawn has had on Katy’s life.
Dawn’s parents are retired and live nearby. We see them regularly for family meals and they are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their first grandchild. These two have so much love to give and they will surely spoil their grandbaby like crazy.
Dawn enjoys playing soccer, painting portraits on big canvasses, writing funny short stories and screenplays. She is also passionate about volunteering her time to worthy causes. Having grown up playing various sports Dawn will have so much fun teaching our child how to play them as well. She has led several Habitat for Humanity trips throughout the years, her favorite being her trips to the New Orleans area after Hurricane Katrina. Her heart is big and I feel so lucky to have found her and it and I know it will continue to grow with love for our child.
Having both been born and raised in Sacramento, California we decided to make the city our home as adults as well. We own a great home in a wonderful neighborhood, with a big backyard for playing as well as many nearby parks.
Both of us work from home full-time and have extremely flexible schedules as a result. Dawn is a freelance Graphic Designer and is also the author of two humorous books about taking on ridiculous athletic challenges like marathons and the pain that comes as a result. Becky is a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) for the State of California and also runs a small accounting firm. Our jobs are very stable and provide us with a very nice lifestyle allowing us to set our own schedules and take as much time as we need and want for the people and things that we love.
Sacramento is a nice place with safe neighborhoods and great schools. Only a mile or so from the river, we spend summer days on our boat, fishing, swimming and exploring. The dogs even have their own life jackets for when they come along. The best part of Sacramento is our big group of family and friends in the area.
With two parents working from home and four retired grandparents our child is going to have an abundance of people around him or her throughout all of their days, attending all of their various school plays, sporting events, recitals and birthday celebrations and everything else. We have arranged our professional lives so that we can be 100% present in our personal lives. Not many people have that unique opportunity and we feel very fortunate.
The two of us were raised with strong morals and value family above all else. Having both gained so much from the unconditional love that our parents always gave us, we will give that same love to our child, teaching them about loyalty, kindness and humility along the way. Our child will have a life full of laughter, music, friends, travel, education and every opportunity for success. He or she will be taught that anything in the world is possible, as long as you are willing to work very hard for it and never give up on your dreams. We will be able to tell them this without a doubt because they were our dream and every day with them will prove that dreams actually do come true.
